How much does Diamond earn from YouTube and iTunes?

D Platnumz

Diamond Platnumz is one of Africa’s richest musicians going by the big numbers he revealed to his Wasafi radio station. The Waah! hitmaker is laughing all the way to the bank thanks to music streaming and downloads on iTunes and YouTube.

He is not just making money in millions, but billions! Now you know that when the “African Beauty” singer takes to social media to flaunt his wealth, it’s because he’s got it. He doesn’t fake riches as most other musicians do.

In a recent interview with his very own Wasafi FM, the entertainer first revealed his true source of music. Interestingly, most people think that YouTube is what pays Diamond the most. He may have been the first African artist to hit 4 billion views on YouTube, but that’s not his real source of money.

“There is money in streaming music. There are many platforms but Apple Music is the one that has a bigger payout,” he said.

This may be a shocker to many who always feel that his events pay the most. However, during COVID-19, the singer has still dropped new music, while his Kenyan counterparts complained about the lockdown. Talk about being a smart businessman!

“It is not true. Let me give you an example from my videos, from my estimation if you get one million views you don’t get Tsh 1m or Tsh 600,000. however, when it comes to iTunes a million downloads yields about Tsh 2.5b,” he added.

When you convert the money using current rates, it is almost 120 million Tanzanian shillings! It is not hard for Simba to hit that amount of downloads. He is one of the most successful musicians in East Africa. Whether within a few months or a few years, this shows the big amount of money that Diamond makes.

“I would like to urge our fans to stream music and download from iTunes because it builds us the artistes. This is the same business model the likes of Drake use to buy planes,” he added.
