Some Kenyan celebrities’ highly publicized marriages have ended abruptly, prompting a lot of speculation and, at times, derision about how they ended up.
Bantu takes a look back at some of the biggest celebrity breakups in history.
Jowie and Ella
We’ll start with one that can be likened to David Bowie’s and Ella Fitzgerald’s, which lasted over a year after the singer was released on bail.
Ella disclosed that the couple split up in December 2020. She stated that the reason for their breakup was because Jowie had changed for the better and she did not want her career to be associated with his life story.
Daddy Owen and Farida Wambui
After rumors that the singer had been left for a Nairobi tycoon, Daddy Owen and his wife Farida broke their four-year marriage in a very unpleasant manner.
Owen is still fighting for his marriage, but he recently admitted that the strains have caused him to become depressed. They have two children.
Betty Bayo and Pastor Victor Kanyari
Betty Bayo ended her relationship with the pastor after finding he was a conman thanks to the Kenyan media, which exposed him as a liar.
Betty recently discussed her relationship with the father of her two children, saying that his mother was always in charge of their relationship, which she did not take lightly.
Betty still believes that despite his questionable behavior, he is a wonderful father.
Tanasha Donna and Diamond Platnumz
Yes, we are aware that Diamond is not a Kenyan, but… Everything seemed to be falling into place for these two to marry in early 2020, but then it all came crumbling down.
Tanasha moved back to Kenya following rumours, and it’s thought the Bongo star’s family had something to do with their breakup.
They have a kid, Naseeb, who is named after his father.

Before walking out on her marriage to a music producer and preacher in 2015, the lovely gospel singer was married for roughly six years.
Her marriage was apparently strained after her husband allegedly began cheating on her. After recently showing off her new lover, American citizen Evans Sabwami, the singer has found love again.
Otile Brown and Vera Sidika
Music fans were overjoyed when socialite Vera and musician Otile began dating, but their happiness lasted only a few months.
As each stepped out to reveal the reasons for the breakup, there was a lot of blame game between the two.
Dennis Okari and Betty Kyallo
Dennis and Betty appeared to be deeply in love, and their decision to spend the rest of their lives together was based on this.

This was most likely one of the most significant breakups of the year.
