Elizabeth II, born April 21, 1926 in Mayfair, London, of the House of Windsor, was the constitutional monarch of 16 sovereign states, territories and dependent areas known as the Commonwealth Realms until her death on September 8, 2022. She was head of the 53-state Commonwealth of Nations and secular head of the Anglican Church of England, the state church of England. In 1947 she married Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark, the Duke of Edinburgh, with whom she had four children: Charles, Anne, Andrew and Edward. Her coronation took place at Westminster Abbey on 2 June 1953 and was the first to be televised.
