Every year, Forbes magazine publishes a list of the richest women in the world. The top ten people in this list currently own a combined net worth of more than 420 billion US dollars.

Forbes magazine lists MacKenzie Bezos, Susanne Klatten and Alice Walton, among others. But who is the richest woman in the world in 2022? An overview.

In 2022, the richest woman from China, from Germany, a French woman, and the richest woman in Australia will make it into the ranking. The remaining six places are occupied exclusively by women from the United States, including Jeff Bezos’ ex-wife and Walmart heiress. We show which of them currently has the largest fortune.

10th place: Iris Fontbona (Chile)

Iris Fontbona is the 10th richest woman in the world in 2022, ousting Abigail Johnson. Fontbona is a mining and real estate entrepreneur and the richest person in Chile with a fortune of $23.3 billion.

9th place: Gina Rinehart (Australia)

Australia’s Gina Rinehart comes in ninth in the ranking, just ahead of Johnson. The mining entrepreneur is currently worth $23.6 billion and is also Australia’s largest landowner, according to the Guardian. According to sources, she owns 9.2 million hectares of land, i.e. 1.2 percent of the total landmass of Australia.

8th place: Susanne Klatten (Germany)

Susanne Klatten, the richest woman in Germany, is in eighth place. She has an estimated net worth of $27.7 billion as of 2021 and, together with her brother Stefan Quandt, owns nearly 50 percent of the automaker BMW . These company shares come from the inheritance of her parents Herbert and Johanna Quandt.

7th place: Yang Huiyan and family (China)

Yang Huiyan is the richest woman in China with a fortune of around US$29.6 billion and ranks seventh in the list of the world’s richest women. As early as 1997, her father Yeung Kwok Keung gave her a 58 percent stake in the real estate company Country Garden, with which she built up most of her wealth.

6th place: Jacqueline Mars (USA)

The daughter of Forrest Mars and granddaughter of the Mars Incorporated founder ranks sixth in the 2022 ranking of the richest women in the world. Mars Inc. is best known for its candy bars and Uncle Ben’s is part of the group of companies. Jacqueline Mars owns a net worth of $31.3 billion.

5th place: Miriam Adelson (USA)

The Israeli-American doctor Miriam Adelson is in fifth place in the current ranking with a fortune of 38.2 billion US dollars. She married casino magnate Sheldon Adelson in 1991, whose fortune she later inherited. She was able to increase her wealth by around seven billion US dollars compared to the last ranking.

4th place: Julia Koch and family (USA)

Julia Koch is the widow of American politician and entrepreneur David Koch and is worth an estimated $46.4 billion. The President of the David H. Koch Foundation thus ranks fourth in the “Forbes” ranking, leaving Jacqueline Mars and Miriam Adelson behind.

3rd place: MacKenzie Scott (USA)

MacKenzie Scott, formerly MacKenzie Bezos, is an American writer, philanthropist, and the ex-wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. After the divorce, she received 25 percent of Amazon shares and is now the third richest woman in the world with a fortune of around 53 billion US dollars.

2nd place: Alice Walton (USA)

Alice Walton remains the second richest woman in the world in 2022. The daughter of the late Walmart founder Sam Walton is worth an estimated US$61.8 billion. Contrary to her siblings Robson Walton and Jim Walton, she is not involved in the Walmart business, but focuses on communicating art.

1st place: Francoise Bettencourt-Meyers (France)

After the death of her mother, Liliane Bettencourt, Francoise Bettencourt-Meyers became the sole heir to the L’Oreal company founded by her grandfather. With assets of around 73.6 billion US dollars, she is the richest woman in the world according to the latest rankings. She even made it into the list of the top ten richest people in the world.
