When it comes to fashion, let’s admit it, for the most part, it is mostly women-centered.

The comedian said that his new fashion style will be happening a lot more than we think we might as well get used to it, and, well, we might!

Fashion isn’t always so straightforward; sometimes it has squiggly colored lines moving in all directions.

Khaligraph Jones

Khaligrph is that celebrity that when it comes to fashion, if it isn’t designer, then he is not wearing it!

He has perfected the art of the fashion logo so well in fact, that he has been associated with several cases of fraud in fashion just because.

His Bad-guy rich-guy acts look good on him so we are not complaining.

Octopizzo

Octopizzo believes he is the most fashionable celebrity in the country and we’re inclined to believe so as well.

The superstar musician is the ultimate master of ‘UK Boy’ fixed with an air of casualness that only serves to make him the ultimate king.

His rough matter-of-fact personality only does well to serve him as he pairs all his looks to what seems to be his current mood.

He is also arguably the most versatile in the industry and it’s obvious with how seriously he takes his image, he dresses himself.

King Kaka

King Kaka clearly made it a point to perfect the intellectual-artist-in-a-suit trope when he began getting famous in the industry and it paid off!

The Wajinga Nyinyi creator has been making moves in the industry for his sleek and top-notch fitted suits that make him look dashing and well put together.
Alongside his show host girlfriend Nana Owiti who he just celebrated 10 years with!

Willy Paul

Willy Paul has near perfected the ultimate Playboy that never wants to be tied down image that seems to work well on him.

Frequently donning college jackets, beanies for smooth, casual yet chic looks, he is arguably the most fashion-conscious of them all because for this look to be pulled off so seamlessly yet as effortlessly as he does it, he must have a very keen eye for fashion and cool looks!

Otile Brown

Otile Brown has a fashion sense that often combines modern urban styles with an infusion of African and contemporary trends. His fashion choices tend to be versatile, adapting to different occasions, from casual streetwear to more sophisticated and stylish outfits for performances or events.

He’s often seen in trendy streetwear, embracing bold colors, statement pieces, and designer brands. Otile Brown has a penchant for well-fitted outfits that accentuate his physique, including fitted jeans or trousers paired with fashionable shirts or jackets. He’s also known for accessorizing smartly, whether with chains, watches, or sunglasses that complement his attire.

Some Tanzanian celebrities opted to cross the borders to find love in Kenya. Even though they succeeded, most of these relationships ended prematurely with only a few ending in marriage.

Many people believe that Tanzanians are much better versed in romance than Kenyans are, so that may be why these relationships sprouted very fast after they landed in the country.

Either way, here are some of the Tanzanian celebrities who have been in a relationship with Kenya’s Super Stars.

Hussein Machozi

The Tanzanian singer was reported to be involved in a series of relationships with Kenyan women at the time he was living in the country.

One of those relationships Machozi was said to be involved, was that with a politician’s wife.

A Tanzanian singer was reportedly found having a sexual affair with one of Kenya’s politician wives.

The relationship is said to have ended after Machozi was caught pants down with the Mombasa-based politician’s wife.

Clearly, Machozi got extremely busy during his stay. But the allegations were never confirmed.

Hamisa Mobetto

Hamisa Mobetto being on this list might be a surprise, but yes, the Tanzanian model once confessed that she once dated a Kenya businessman.

Mobetto did not, however, reveal the name of the mystery man she allegedly dated.

She said, she prematurely broke up with the Kenyan after they failed to agree on certain issues.

She is obviously over that now seeing as she has recently been alleged to be having a relationship with International Music Mogul Rick Ross.

Diamond Platnumz

The Bongo star is another star that has once fallen in love with a Kenyan international.

Diamond dated Tanasha Donna, a Kenyan, for nearly two years before they broke up in early 2020.

Diamond has a son with Tanasha. The two were said to be at loggerheads, with Tanasha deleting him off of Naseeb Junior’s Instagram page but never even once addressing their issue publicly. She is however also said to be dating a new anonymous person.

Ali Kiba

Ali Kiba also fell in love with a Kenyan, Amina Khalef whom he went ahead and married.

Ali Kiba and Khalef have a son together.

Even though their marriage is currently on the rocks, the couple is still married and trying to work on their issues according to reports.

Ben Pol

Singer Ben Pol was also married to Anerlisa Muigai, a Kenyan, for about a year before they separated a few months ago.

Mbosso

Wasafi signee, Mbosso has never shied away from talking about his relationship with his Kenyan ex-girlfriend. In an interview with Wasafi FM, Mbosso said he had been in a relationship with a Kenyan with whom he has a child.

Mbosso said he broke up with the Mombasa-based lady after they failed to agree on certain issues. He further revealed that the lady has since moved on to another relationship.

Amber Lulu

Amber Lulu is another Tanzanian beauty queen who once dated a Kenyan. Amber Lulu dated rapper CMB Prezzo for a year before they broke with Lulu noting that their relationship lacked true love.

Fashion in Kenya’s pop culture has always been one of its highlighted features. From fast fashion to causal wear to Ankara, Kenya’s fashion scene has always revolved around the lady moving around doing things, but often with the connotation that they’re childless.

Betty is the one wonder woman who never fails to make her audience wonder while making them glee.

Tanasha must have surprised everyone when she got pregnant and not only started working harder, she started looking better too!

She is the definition of the sleek and modern mom (who not only doesn’t look like a mom) but is on-trend, creating trends, breaking boundaries, and bringing her son along too.

She has proven to be an amazing mom who is willing to do anything for the vibe and for her son.

We have seen actors and actresses play major roles in different adverts and movies. Some of them have been made famous by their accents. Below are a few celebs who are not from the tribes you thought.

KRG the don

Many people wrongly think KRG the don is a Kisii, which is not the case. KRG the don is of mixed race: Indian and Kikuyu.

Eric Omondi

Most people think that Eric Omondi is entirely luo. However, that is not the case. Apart from his luo accent, there has always been a debate that the comedian doesn’t look luo. For all those who thought that he is not entirely luo, you were right!

A few months back, the comedian revealed to Amina Abdi that he is not entirely luo. In the interview, Amina asked about his controversial show, Wife Material and what his mother thought about it. As he was answering, he went on ahead to discuss his mother and his aunts.

He revealed that one of his mother’s sister, his aunt, called him to talk about the show.

David Mwabili (Mwala)

Mwala is among the veteran actors that we have in the country. He started acting way back in the 90s and he made a name out of it. In the past, he starred in Vitimbi that was in KBC channel.

Today, he acts as an inspector in Inspector Mwala that airs on Citizen TV. Since then, the actor has been a role model to many young Kenyans.

One mistake that a lot of Kenyans make is that they tend to think that Mwala hails from the Kamba region. This is because every time he acts, he depicts a Kamba accent. In 2017, Mwala in an interview with Jeff and Jalas revealed that he is actually Taita.

Eunice Wambui (Nyasuguta)

As her name suggests, Eunice Wambui is Kikuyu. But from her role as Nyasuguta, many people think that she is Kisii. She played Nyasuguta in Vitimbi as Mogaka’s wife.

Sande Bush (Dr. Ofweneke)

Sande Bush, AKA, Dr. Ofweneke has been mistaken for being a Nigerian. Dr. Ofweneke is a show host and Mc. In most of his events, he speaks like a Nigerian.

Something that has made many think that he is an oga from one of the West African countries. However, he also did an interview and revealed that he has never stepped his foot in any West African country. He is Luhya and comes from Western Kenya.

Hiram Mungai (Ondiek Nyuka Quarter)

Hiram Mungai AKA, Ondiek Nyuka Quarter is also a veteran when it comes to the entertainment industry. For the longest time ever, many think that Ondiek is from Kisumu County, but that is not the case.

He is actually from Central Kenya. He was always getting in trouble in the popular show Vioja Mahakamani.

Joseph Kinuthia (Omosh)

Joseph Kinuthia AKA, Omosh has been making headlines lately after publicly asking for help from Kenyans. He used to act in Tahidi High on Citizen TV. Because of the name Omosh, many thought that he is luo. As the name Kinuthia suggests, Omosh comes from Central Kenya.

Kazungu Matano

Many know Kazungu Matano as Captain Otoyo Sibuor. Kazungu comes from one of the nine Mijikenda tribes. He is a comedian, MC, and radio host. He has a role in Churchill Show and Papa Shirandula.

Sauti Sol

Sauti Sol is a well-known afro-pop band from Kenya. Bein Aime Baraza, Savara Mudigi, Willis Chimano, and Polycarp Otieno make up the foursome.

Since their rise to popularity, they’ve never stopped releasing new music. Their well-known singles include “Nenda Lote,” “Suzzana,” “Soma Kijana,” “Midnight Train,” “Nenda Lote,” “Isabella,” “Sober,” and “My Everything.”

Mejja

Okonkwo, as he famously referred to himself, is another Kenyan who has attracted fans from all over the world with his powerful storytelling techniques through his lyricism and flow.

Mejja has performed, not just in more than 70 percent of areas in the country, but also beyond the borders. For instance, towards the end of 2021, he performed before crowds who are based as far as South Sudan.

Eric Wainaina

Erick Wainaina remains a major player in the Kenyan music industry, having received two African music grants and numerous nominations. He has a long list of studio albums, singles, and a stage musical to his credit, not to mention his patriotic classic songs about Kenya.

HIV/AIDS is one of the world’s most feared diseases. Being infected with HIV may seem like a death sentence to some, and this, for the most part, makes them choose to keep it to themselves.

Here is a list of Kenyan celebrities who have made their HIV status public.

Avril Ex-Lover Muga and Avril

Leslie Mugadza aka Muga went on to perform his test and share it on social media after he separated with Avril. He confirmed the negative result based on his postings.

Avril also revealed her negative HIV status on social media.

Joji Baro

The gospel singer surprised his followers when he revealed that he was HIV positive.

Joji had a love affair with a Catholic priest while attending St Paul’s Miluki high school, where he was the priest’s girlfriend.

Joji was contacted by two Journalists from a local newspaper and compelled to confess his relationship with the priest at gunpoint not long after the two fell in love. A day later, Baro made national headlines in newspapers across the country.

He tested positive for the virus on March 11, 2011, and his family abandoned him after that.

Vera Sidika

She was obliged to undergo a public VCT and share the results online after rumors that she got infected while on a ‘call girl’ trip went viral.

Huddah Monroe

After her appearance on Big Brother Africa and her never-ending feud with Vera Sidika, Kenya’s top socialite Huddah Monroe, now based in Dubai, rose to stardom in December 2015. However, on World Aids Day, she made her HIV status public in an effort to support and encourage other Kenyans to be tested and stop stigmatizing individuals who are sick. She took a photo of herself doing the test and then released the results on Snapchat, and she’s negative!

Richard Amuok

He is a well-known rapper who is most known for his group Ukoo Flani. He has even revealed the woman who infected him.

Doreen Moraa

Doreen Moraa, 24, has been living with HIV and AIDS her entire life. She was born to two opposing parents, one of whom was positive and the other negative. She became extremely unwell at some time in her life and was rushed to the intensive care unit. Doctors discovered she had AIDS after she had been treated.

She started her journey with ARVs and acceptance, and she has since lived a healthy life. “Hello, HIV.” I am the host and you are the visitor in my body. We both need to make it out alive, so I’ll take my ARVs to suppress you in my bloodstream and live a positive life. Be polite, and I’ll take care of you. PS: I am greater than you, Your Host, Doreen Moraa Moracha.

Prezzo

Controversial rapper Jackson Makini Ngechu, better known as CMB Prezzo, a while back opted to reveal his HIV status.

Prezzo, who had previously shared images of his excursion with Noti Flow, surprised his admirers when he revealed the results of his HIV test.

He also took advantage of the moment to silence all of his haters who had been questioning his dramatic weight reduction, fearing he was ill. With the results of his HIV test at the Nairobi Women’s Hospital, the controversial musician obviously made his point.

Hollywood celebrities normally push boundaries during awards. They can wear, literally anything! Lady Gaga once stepped onto the red carpet wearing meat. They wear thigh-high slits, funny hairstyles, and shoes, not forgetting the dramatic makeup.

However, back home, here in Kenya, netizens don’t recognize thigh-high slits and claim that it is against the African culture. If celebrities step out with anything, sheer clothing, and thigh-high slits, they will be the talk of the town for weeks.

Here are a few ladies who have been trolled for dressing ‘indecently.’

Kirigo Ngarua

Former news anchor Kirigo Ngarua was once trolled for dressing indecently. At one time, while celebrating her friend Terryanne Chebet’s birthday, she had worn a black tassel dress that was a part of the theme of the birthday that took place that weekend.

On her post, fans told her to stop showing her legs, and she responded by saying that the comments were not getting to her. She said she has beautiful legs and she will flaunt them whenever she can.

“Some human commented somewhere that I should “dress decently”… Not sure what that means and to be honest I can’t be bothered…Also, I have beautiful legs so I have to show them off once in a while, add this lovely dress from @siristudio and life is complete at this moment,”

Akothee

Akothee is a vocal artist. She speaks her mind and no one is going to stop her. Akothee had an event in Watamu in 2018 and wore an animal print to the show. Many thought she looked good, while others thought she looked ratchet and her dressing was indecent, so she was setting a bad example as a role model.

She is later responding in a video, saying she is no one’s role model.

Esther Passaris

In a photo, Nairobi Women Rep Esther Passaris’ photo surfaced online where she was wearing a maxi dress with a thigh-high slit at an event. The lower part of the dress was so sheer that you could see her skin.

From the online reactions, the Nairobi legislator stated that it was a dress from her husband and she had no apologies to make to anyone for wearing it.

The radio presenter did not really care much about what was said about her but instead continued doing what she does best, killing it on the red carpet.

However, it would be important to note that despite her overwhelming confidence, Tanasha has on some occasions missed the mark when it comes to dressing.

Betty Kyallo

Betty unintentionally revealed her nipple when she posted a photo of her in a swimming costume. Apart from the fan noticing the slight mishap, Betty generally received positive comments on her pics as many people were impressed at the celebs courage to be able to share such pics with the public. The star has been battling with weight gain issues and she seems to be at a comfortable place with her fitness journey as she was living unapologetically.

While not the first, Elsa single-handedly put Kenya on the International map when it comes to fashion and Vogue just by… being herself!

She got her first 15 minutes of fame when her sarcastic comedy flicks began making the rounds, garnering more and more attention from celebrities that found her sense of humour appealing.

Since then, Elsa has flown herself out, flown her entire family out, been on countless magazine editions including Vogue, worked with a sizeable number of luxury fashion designers including Valentino, and has been to the Met Gala. What the?

She, however, was shamed in our country, and many people did not like her humour, which is not that good for us…but great for her!

Patricia Allison

Some people don’t know this but Ola from S*x Education is Kenyan!

At the time, most people only recognized Lupita for her Oscar but come on, you gotta give it to her, she’s been on Les Miserables –and she kills it with the character on SE!

Her Kenyan roots began to show when she uploaded a picture of her grandma, oh, and the Kenyan flag on her Instagram Bio is a good indicator too, no?

Kimberly Leonard

Kimberly is one of the most revered News Anchors in London’s Sky News, but most don’t know she’s from here.

Lupita Nyong’o

Lupita Nyong’o achieved global fame and critical acclaim for her role as Patsey in the historical drama film “12 Years a Slave” (2013). Her performance in the film earned her numerous accolades, including the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, making her the sixth black actress to win an Oscar in that category. Lupita is also a Kenyan, daughter Anyang Nyong’o.
